About Us

Who We Are

Our staff has years of experience helping South Georgian Bay with its trees. John Stouffer founded the company with a desire to offer a unique approach to tree care and tree removal: one that takes the tree, the landscape, and the client’s needs into consideration.  The team has excellence in the execution of the work, with the needs and requests of the client exactly fulfilled, and the property left neat.  We have always enjoyed helping people, and John founded Collingwood Tree Specialists to this end: to truly be a tree service company.

Our Team

 John Stouffer

Owner and Certified Arborist

In early 2020, after a number of years honing his skills at another local tree service, John founded Collingwood Tree Specialists. Although this is his second career, he realized very quickly that tree work was a great fit for him.

John is an ISA certified arborist—a credential he feels is a symbol of his commitment to providing quality service that takes both the client and their trees into consideration. He is proud of his body of work, and of the happiness he has brought to his clients through his commitment to excellence in tree care,

In his free time, John chauffeurs his 6 kids to their various activities. He is on the worship team at his local church and volunteers with Young Life Collingwood, where dedicates his time to guiding and supporting youth in their spiritual journey. In the spare moments, you will find him playing the guitar, reading, and spending time with his family.

Vincent Turgeon

Climber and Crew Lead

The inception of Vincent’s journey with CTS is a tale of unexpected beginnings. A solo venture into tree removal at home led to hiring John for the trickier parts. As fate would have it, this collaboration sprouted into CTS’s growth story. John’s vision to expand the business synced perfectly with Vincent’s aspirations, and the rest, as they say, is history.

For him, the charm of the job lies in the great outdoors. Each day brings a new adventure, combining physical activity with the thrill of solving intricate tree removal puzzles.

When he’s not high in the trees, Vincent finds joy in the fast lane. Triathlons, drifting escapades, and ample time spent outdoors keep the adrenaline pumping. His downtime involves diving into YouTube. At home, Vincent shares life with his extraordinary partner, an Ironman, and the cutest dog in the world, Flash. And to add a touch of nostalgia, Vincent proudly hails from Quebec.

Joel Albany

Arborist Apprentice

Aspiring to become an ISA Certified Arborist, Joel became a part of Collingwood Tree Specialists in April of 2023. Nicknamed “The Wild Child,” Joel grew up around tree work as his grandfather formerly founded and operated ‘Bobcaygeon Tree Services.’ After climbing nearly every tree on the property, it was destined that Joel would cross paths with tree work.

Joel’s favorite aspect of his job is the ever-changing nature of his ‘office.’ For him, there’s never a dull moment when working among the branches.

Before venturing into arboriculture, Joel carved out a niche for himself in the golf industry, serving as a certified PGA of Canada Golf Professional for a decade. His collegiate years in Tifton, Georgia, included competing for the men’s golf team, laying the foundation for his professional journey.

In his spare time, Joel likes to go on hikes, play hours of guitar, and spend time exploring new cuisine with his wife, Taylor.
Joel and Taylor live in Collingwood, and you can catch them out on local bike trails, skiing the trails at Highland’s Nordic, or enjoying a good meal and a ‘pop’ at a local restaurant.
